TUMBLING CLASSES

LakePoint offers fun movement programs that teach the fundamentals of gymnastics. Our weekly themed lessons teach

motor skills that help children increase their body awareness, spatial awareness,strength, flexibility and balance leading to

an overall heightened sense of physical fitnessand added coordination that will last them a lifetime! 

AGES 0-6

12-24mo. Mommy & Me

The gross motor abilities of early 2-year-olds are often characterized by more confident running, jumping on two feet, and an overall improved spatial awareness of their bodies.  This is the earliest age group with which we work on fine and gross manipulative’s in a structured format.  During this program, the youngsters are elated as they dance, role, swing, play games, take turns, and receive individual attention.  Our students feel great about themselves as they learn gymnastics in a constantly changing program with fresh ingredients and frequent new equipment setups. 

Classes will be held on Tuesdays or Thursdays 1:30-200pm

 

3-4 yrs. (Potty Trained)

With greater independence, comes the ability to participate without the parent, and our 3-4 year olds are lavished with positive reinforcement for self-reliance and following directions.  Strength, flexibility, and agility are increased, as our teachers introduce gymnastic skills with the safest spotting techniques and communication through language geared to build self-esteem and confidence.

Classes held on Tuesday and Thursday 2-2:30pm

 

4-6 yrs. Beginner-Intermediate:

At the Beginner tumbling level children learn tumbling basics and begin a solid foundation for all of their future tumbling. Skills will be focused on lunges, rolling skills, cartwheels, back-bend skills, and most importantly – handstands. Basic body awareness, tightness, and body positions will also be taught at this level. Those students leaning towards an Intermediate level will be able to further perfect these skills with more challenging stations, progressions, and exercises.   

Classes will be held on Tuesday and Thursday 3:00-4:00pm

 

AGES 6-8

6-8 yrs. Beginners

A class geared towards older youth that has little to no experience with tumbling.  Strength, flexibility, agility, and body tightness are made a top priority for these beginners; accompanied by learning the basics of tumbling: lunges, rolling skills, cartwheels, back-bend skills, and handstands.  This group is heavily focused on building confidence and self-esteem by using the safest spotting techniques and positive communication.

Classes will be on Tuesday and Thursday 4:00-5:00 pm

6-8 yrs. Intermediate-Advanced:

 For students that are well experienced in tumbling and present well-technique.  Athletes in this class will learn skills such as round-off back handspring series passes, round-off back handspring back tucks, punch fronts, toe touch back handsprings, round-off tucks, x-outs, and many more challenging moves to help our athletes reach the next level.

Classes will be held on Tuesday and Thursdays 4:00 – 5:00 pm

AGES 9+

9+yrs. Level 1:

A class specifically for students above age 9, at the Beginner Level (Level 1).  Geared towards older youth that has little to no experience with tumbling.  Strength, flexibility, agility, and body tightness are made a top priority for these beginners; accompanied by learning the basics of tumbling: lunges, rolling skills, cartwheels, backbend skills, walkover skills, and handstands.  This group is heavily focused on building confidence and self-esteem by using the safest spotting techniques and positive communication.

Classes held on Tuesday and Thursday 4:00 – 5:00 pm

 

9+yrs. Level 2:

A class for students above age 9.  These students will continue to perfect the skills from Level 1 (rolls, cartwheels, backbend skills, handstands) as they begin to focus heavily on front and back walkovers and back hand springs, handspring series, and connective tumbling.  Classes at this level become more challenging as new body positions are introduced (diving back for back handsprings).  

Classes held on Tuesday and Thursday4:00 – 5:00 pm

 

9+yrs. Level 3:

A class for students above age 9.  Students are well experienced in tumbling and are able to present perfected tumbling from Level 1-2, using the appropriate technique.  This class is highly focused on back handspring series, connective tumbling, and back tucks.  A strong will and work ethic is required to participate in this class, as the skills and drills become significantly more difficult – but also significantly rewarding.

Classes held on Tuesday and Thursday 4:00-5:00 pm

9+yrs. Level 4:

A class for students above age 9.  Students are very well experienced in tumbling and are able to present perfected tumbling from Level 1-3, using the appropriate technique.  This class is highly focused on layouts, x-outs, Arabians, and twisting skills.  Again, a strong will and work ethic is required to participate in this class, as the skills and drills are as hard as our program allows.
