Tip-Off Classic Recap

38 total teams began the weekend with hopes of winning the Championship of the first-annual LakePoint Tip-Off Classic, but only 6 stood as Champions Sunday afternoon.

 

The 4th Grade Division was dominated by Kentucky Playmakers Elite as they finished a perfect 4-0 and their point differential was a whopping +115. KY Elite proceeded to win the Championship over Norcross Heat 44-18.

 

The 5th Grade Division was won by Triple Double with a 33-25 win over Norcross Heat. Triple Double also finished perfectly throughout the Tip-Off Classic weekend with a record of 4-0.

 

The 6th Grade Division was probably the most entertaining and competitive division in regards to the level of play across the teams. Both the Rome Gladiators and EOTO ran through their pools to earn #1 seeds and eventually met in the Championship Sunday afternoon. It was a well-fought game, but EOTO pulled away late to take the Championship 64-76. EOTO went 5-0 for the weekend as Rome Gladiators finished 3-1.

 

The 7th-grade Team Powell squad made a statement to start their 2017 travel season as they finished perfectly with a record of 5-0 for the weekend. In the Championship they met the then 4-0 GA Stars but ended up being too much to handle as they eventually cruised to a 49-34 win.

 

Team Powell swept Championship Sunday here last weekend at LakePoint with an 8th Grade Division Championship as well. The team finished perfectly with a record of 4-0. In the Championship they met and defeated Team Impact 43-37.

 

The clear leader in the 9th Grade Division all weekend was the ATL Celtics 2021. With a record of 5-0 and a total point differential of +244. The Celtics won the Tip-Off Championship with a 92-74 win over GA Xclusive 2021.
