LakePoint Showcase Recap

This past weekend 53 total teams compete in our first-annual LakePoint Showcase. We had amazing games and great competition over the nine divisions, grades 5 through 11 (both boys and girls). See below for a brief recap of each division champ.

5th Grade Division Champions: Elite Playmakers

The Elite Playmakers went 1-1 on Saturday with a close win over ATL Nets and a loss to TNBC Select. This 1-1 record gave them a #2 Seed for Bracket-play Sunday. They cruised past the Nets again, only to meet Team Impact in the Championship. This was a very close game as they defeated Impact by 1 point to seal the victory.

6th Grade Division Champions: ATL Xpress

The Xpress started out Saturday morning with a loss to the GA Kings; but then battled back to rattle off 4 straight wins to secure an LP Showcase Championship. They met the Kings again in the Championship game and successfully redeemed themselves.

7th Grade Division Champions: GA United

GA United was perfect all weekend; finishing with an undefeated record of 4-0. United started the tournament with a close-3 point victory over the ATL Nets, and also finished the weekend with a victory of the ATL Nets to earn their Championship.

8th Grade Division Champions: Elite Playmakers

The Elite Playmakers 2021 also had a phenomenal weekend as they finished with a record of 4-0. Although it was a battle for much of the contest, the Playmakers held on to a 2-point lead against the tough Middle GA Tarheel team that gave them a tough contest the day before.

9th Grade Division Champions: Middle GA Tarheels

The Tarheels proved to be way too much for their competition throughout the weekend, as their average margin of victory was 29 points through their 4 wins. The Tarheels were perfect all weekend and this early-season tournament should give them some confidence moving forward into the Spring circuit.

10th Grade Division Champions: GA Xclusive

GA Xclusive held a 4-0 record throughout the LP Showcase, with 3 very convincing wins to start. The Championship game, on the other hand, was a battle between them and Elite Playmakers, with Xclusive pulling away late and edging them 49-44.

11th Grade Division Champions: SEBA – FCI Warriors

FCI Warriors won their four match-ups this past weekend by an average of 33 points. The team met Team Impact in the finals (who also was 3-0) and it was a close game until the Warriors pulled away late.

8th/9th Grade Girls Division Champions: FBC Black ’21

FBC had a great weekend finishing with a perfect 4-0. They defeated Lady Dynasty – Turner (who upset FBC 2020 in the Semi-Finals) 59-23 to secure their Championship.

Varsity Girls Division Champions: FBC Black ’18

The Championship of the Varsity Girls Division was between two teams from the same program: FBC ’17 and FBC ’18. The game was close, but FBC ’18 held on for a 5 point victory. The FBC program showed it’s dominance this weekend and they will look to have a great Spring and Summer season
